Relationships often fail because there's not a clear understanding of what is to be expected. When expectations are clear the maximum potential of those relationships can be experience from all parties involved.

           

1.         Daily Prayer (I Timothy 2:1-2):  Think of the Number of people that would be affected if your leaders should fall into sin.  In Ephesians 6:19, Paul asks the people to pray for him that he might open his mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.  Remember that your Bishop & Pastor are human beings just like everyone else and the greater the position, the greater the temptations and trials.

 

2.          Support & Help:  Now that you are a member of the Body of Christ, the vision and calling of the ministry becomes yours too. The Body of Christ has a world-wide vision and we can't accomplish it without you and your resources. (I Corinthians 3:9; Exodus 17:12)

 

3.          Grace & Space to Grow (II peter 3:18): We are all human and none of us are perfect.  God is still working on your leaders as well.

 

4.          Respect, Esteem, and Love (I Thessalonians 5:12-15):  God has given you a wonderful gift in your leaders.  You need them to reach your destiny.  If you don't recognize who is walking among you, it's going to hurt you.  Don't get common or overly familiar with them (Mark 6:1-5).

 

5.          Material & Financial Blessing (I Timothy 5:17; Galatians 6:6; Romans 15:27:  Being a Pastor is one of the most stressful jobs there is.  Also, most pastors work 70 hours per week.  No pastor should have to be concerned about bills, etc.  Something is wrong with our society when Sports figures and entertainers can make millions but we frown on a Pastor that makes a descent salary.

 

6.          Renounce Persecutions (I Timothy 5:19-20):  "Against an elder, receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.  Satan's number one target is your pastors.  He wants to slander his/her name and destroy his/her influence. You should build a wall around them to protect them from evil gossip.  When someone comes to you with some gossip about your pastors, just ask them to repeat it in front of two or three elders. That will shut them up very quickly. Don't listen to idle gossip or negative talk about your leaders.  This will affect your heart toward them. Proverbs 4:23 tells you to guard your heart.

 

7.         You owe their children freedom to be children: Children will be children. Don't put unreasonable demands on them because they are P.K.'s (Preacher's Kids).  Remember they are subject to the attacks of the devil.  If Satan can't get to the pastors, he will target their children to get them to lose focus.  Please pray for them also.

 

8.          Freedom to Lead:  They are called to lead God's flock not try to please God's flock.  It's impossible to please God and people too.  Your leaders have chosen to strive to please the Lord so let them lead.
